Black Velvet in motion

"TEMPERAMENT: Betta splendens are peaceful fish, BUT they will attack any other male Betta in the tank."

This one lives up to its common name a Siamese fighting fish. He attacks any and all of my fish, and he savaged its mate when I organised their date. She is in a critical condition...

I put this at full size on my computer desktop against white background, and I can't stop looking at it!

Thanks very much for the comments! Yes he is a badass fish, he is building another bubble nest and his date has actually recovered. I will have to decide whether to try let them 'meet' again... maybe in a different tank with some plants to create ambiance :-D. The white background is a piece of plastic I inserted into a restricted swimming area - he was peeved with me for it!

Next time I want to get them together - it is fascinating their ritual...

Your fish is beautiful. I love this photo.

If you are trying to mate, make sure there are TONS of places the female can hide. :)
