Small Pearl-bordered Fritillary

Generally found in damp areas within open deciduous woodlands where the foodplants (Common Dog-Violet and Marsh Violet) grow. It has unfortunately undergone a long-term decline in both distribution and population, although populations in the north and west, such as at Abernethy RSPB where this was taken, have stayed more stable.
