Fishing boats upriver at the Xinzhuang Bridge on the Beiyunhe, the northern leg of the former Grand Canal that connected Tianin with Beijing. Tianjin was the junction of the Nanyunhe, the southern leg of the canal from Hangzhou, and the Beiyunhe to Beijing. This is looking upriver from the Xinzhuang Bridge which is very near to the confluence of the Beiyunhe and the Ziyahe, the river that connects the two legs of the former canal at Sanchakou in downtown Tianjin just north of Culture Street.
