This photo was a bit of an experiment. I have been experimenting with waterfalls, trying to use them as a background rather than the focal point. I knew there was so much water that it was hard to correctly expose the picture , so wondered what the result would be with the waterfall brightening the picture and as a secondary focal point.
I was walking around the forest floor until i saw this bright orange, almost red log. I took a couple shots of this, the wood pointing towards the fall and then the eye leading back behind the black fern stump and down to the right.
I will be interested to see if this photo is any good as a horizontal panorama, which is my favourite format at the moment (as with every photo on my recent trip). I think there is a bit too much clutter in the top left corner and too much movement in the ferns in the top right corner. I think its an ok result, and look forward to more experimentation.
