Te Matua Ngahere

The Waipoua forest contains the last remnants of New Zealand's great Kauri forests. Te Matua Ngahere - the father of the forest, is the second largest Kauri in NZ and is probably around 2000 years old!

 

Its hard to capture how massive this tree is, the trunk is over 16m in diameter.
