28 years ago Utah had a wet winter and spring and the result was flooding and mudslides all over the state. This past winter and spring have eclipsed 1983 in terms of moisture and snow pack. We haven't had warm enough temperatures yet to bring down the snow melt so we'll see what happens in the next few weeks.
I took these shots in Thistle, UT, or what's left of Thistle. The mudslide in April 1983 completely blocked the canyon setting in motion a countdown for the residents to evacuate their homes before the two converging streams created a lake submerging the town under 100' of water.
This is what remains of the old school 28 years later.
