My new (to me) single speed!!!

    Newer Older

A friend of mine who is semi-pro an enthusiast upgrades and goes through bikes fairly often, so in some cases I get to steal his old bikes! In this case I picked up his Trek 69er single speed. It has a 29 inch front wheel and a 26 inch rear. I've been wanting a SS for some time now because I hate de-railers and the maintenance that comes with them and so far I'm loving this thing. Should be a good way to get my legs ready for ski season.

Now that's cool! Both the bike and the "hand-me-down"!!!!

Yep. Just renewed our season passes, bought a 4 pack to Loveland, and a pair of passes to Monarch. Winter can't come fast enough for me.

Awesome!! I would love that!! Hate the hole switching gears stuff...but which "gear" as a single gear is the sweet spot?

Well the sweet spot is different for different people. Currently the gearing is 34/18, but that is a little to low for road riding. It works for me mountain biking though. I am going to try a higher gear since I commute a lot on it. We'll see if I'm strong enough to keep up with the higher gearing...
