December 2006 trip
Since we couldn't make it to the Hawaii Bowl to watch ASU play, we took a nice roadtrip along the west coast. First, we hit Pinnacles National Monument and San Juan Bautista Mission State Historic Park on our way to visit family in Palo Alto. From there, we made it up to John Muir National Historic Site and on to Sacramento to visit my dad and watch the bowl game on Christmas.
We then trekked up to Oregon to surprise Kim's Mom. With them, we visited the Columbia Gorge Discovery Center and Fort Vancouver National Historic Site on our way to the coast. We stopped at Fort Clatsop and other Lewis & Clark attractions before heading south to the Sea Lion Caves and Redwood National Park. From there, we stopped back in to spend New Years with my dad in Sacramento before heading back home.
It was a good trip, but we spent much of it driving in less than ideal conditions.
