Sunken dreams

    Gran Canaria, Sept. 2001

A shot with my first Digicam: Toshiba PDR-M4

It was fitted with 2,1 Megapixel, a 1/2" sensor and 1600x1200 maximal solution, ISO100 (not changeable).
Provided was a 32MB SmartMediaCard. To use a bigger card (max. 64 MB!) a Firmware Update was needed.

The cam was very expansive at those days:
    the first edition in 1999 was about 1500 DM (Deutsche Mark = 760 € / 1050 $)

Do you remember your first digi cam?

Ah yes, my obsession with digital started with a 3mp Nikon coolpix, $550. Like this capture of yours I got many great shots too. Next as usual came the better computer and software, and on it goes. Fun topic Rainier, great shot!

I won this camera in a competition, and for 4 years, it was my sole digicam. It came with an 8MB card, which would carry 33 mid quality pictures, or 8 in highest quality, which I never used.
There is no optical zoom, but a 2x digital zoom, which I never used, because it degraded quality even worse.
Out of interest, I took it out again, and took some shots with it, to evaluate its quality.

Cool! Do you still have the camera? I sold the cam years ago.

Yes, I still have it. As a matter of fact, I just made some pictures with it:
