      mnlamberson has nailed it on all counts. It is indeed a garnet-rich augen gneiss - a rock that also goes by the name kinzigite.

      I'm not familiar with the term 'augen' though. Is it suggestive of gold?

      Augen is German for "eye" - a reference to the shape of the porphyroblasts and the stretched tails.
