2013 Manaslu Trail Race childrens' race
The Manaslu Trail Race participants relaxed for a morning and put children to work running a fun, 1km race at a breathless 10,000 feet of altitude. Around 50 children from the Samagaon School participated. Many thanks to all the participants for running their hearts out and Bir Bahadur, the headmaster of the school.
The video talks a little bit about how we try and engage with the community during this race. The race participants and the local residents have very different cultures, but of course are similar in very many ways. During the race we visit temples, monasteries, peoples homes, a local school - where the locals can explain about their culture and heritage. How do we return that? One part is to spend part of a morning involving the village in a running race, and perhaps this gives some insight in return into our culture of running. Maybe that is nonsense, but it is at least fun.
Please forgive the race director, forced to waffle on in front of the camera by the editor in one short take! Hopefully the images speak for themselves.
