Did you know that at one time there were only 14 whooping cranes left in existence?
I can't imagine a world without these giant five feet tall birds. From the work of many people, these cranes now number close to 600 between wild and captive birds. The work is not done. Many people have worked to help save this species including the amazing people from Operation Migration.
So as I head out to central Wisconsin for a planning meeting for cranefest in September, I thought I would share two photos from International Crane Foundation from this past June of these gorgeous birds.
