Folk Victorian Abandonment

In Central, Oregon.

Folk Victorian is an architectural style from the 1880's to around 1910. It was a style made possible by the advancement of technology in both the mass manufacturing and distribution of wooden ornamentation such as scrolls and spindles that were being used in the hand made custom Victorian homes in the city. The lowered cost and the ability to ship the building supplies allowed rural farm families to be able to have a fancy house like the city folk.

I love the fancy old homes that can be seen scattered around central and eastern Oregon farm fields and pastures. It's a shame that most are being ignored and are slowly deteriorating. These are a part of history that will be lost some day.
