Corona Arch Revisited

Sing along now, to the tune of "Kodachrome":

Photosho-o-op, gives us those nice bright colors,

Gives us the scenes of summers,

Makes you think all the world's a sunny day (oh yeah),

I got a Canon camera, I bracket for HDR,

So mama don't take my Photoshop away!

(with apologies to Paul Simon!)

We've been to Corona Arch three times now - it's still a nice little hike. This photo is from the opposite side of the arch from the last one.

This one does have the Blue Shirt for scale, 'tho we agreed later that she should have been in the arch instead of way out in front of it. Oh well, we'll just have to go back and try again... :^)

hi, which camera and lens did u use? care to share? it's amazing!
  • rovingmagpie 7y

~Shu Zhen - I use my Canon S2-IS, bracketed for HDR, then processed the images in Photomatix. Any camera would have worked well here :^)

It's a bit disheartening to think this isn't a protected location. Let's hope no one wants to put a coffee shop or big box store there.
  • rovingmagpie 6y

malcolm - It'd be a bit remote for a Wal-Mart. A McDonalds, though, that could work. Hike in, have a Quarter-Pounder™ and a big box o' fries and stumble back out. The drive-through could be problematic :^)

Seriously, we'll be back there in less than a month on our "SouthWest Tour". I promise a full report, maybe even a photo or two.
  • Malcolm Parr 6y

I look forward to the shots. This location was one of my first experiences in the Moab area, (just after Fisher Towers). It holds a special place in my heart.

Good timing to be there without others in the photo... especially nobody rapelling. I understood why you're alone when I saw the date. It must have been warm out there.
  • rovingmagpie 2y

It wasn't as popular then as it is now, Dick.
We don't go back so much anymore, I think if we ran into a noisy crowd swinging off it that might take something away from the experience.
