Arnel's 40th Madhatter

Did this 3 tier madhatter cake for my husband’s 40th birthday, in chocolate and white chocolate mud cakes. Sizes are 12, 9, 6, all tapered down.

I'm on my knees!!!! You are a cake goddess! This is perfection. I have to ask...all you clever PC trained ladies, what is the secret to getting the tapered stripes so perfect? And the fondant is always so flat when you're done. Are you cutting each piece and laying them up against the lst piece (side by side) or are they laid on top of a base color and then smoothed over? (Am I making sense?) Love to know. Anyway, just a gorgeous cake.

Thank you all again for your comments :)

Melanie, the stripes are rolled in a pasta machine for even thickness, and they are attached side by side. Hope this helps :) Thanks for the compliment :)

How do you get the shape of a madhatter cake? Are there special pans for them? Or do you just make a round cake and cut it like that? How is it tapered on the sides also? I'm just starting out, and hope to be half as good as you are one day. You're cakes are absolutely gorgeous and very very intricately detailed.
