Red-shouldered Hawk 2-20090211

This Red-shouldered Hawk flew right over the eagle nest. I quickly switched the camera to the programmed sports mode and just held the shutter halfway down between photos, as it flew overhead and then veered away. Auto exposure with lots of back lighting, so I had to lighten, increase color saturation, and sharpen the image. This was the first time I have used the sports mode for a flight shot. It sure beats manual focus, which has been 100% unsuccessful to date, and auto focus in landscape mode, which has gotten me several nice shots of slow-moving eagles and vultures.
