Orange-breasted Sunbird (Anthobaphes violacea)
This beautiful sunbird was a welcome surprise for us while exploring the botanical garden. Although Africa has no hummingbirds, a wide variety of sunbirds fill that niche. Sunbirds feed largely on nectar, although they will also take insects, especially when feeding young.
Note: Photographed in Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden, Cape Town, South Africa
