White Nancy

We were lucky with the light when we were there, but I had to work fast to avoid the hordes of photographers waiting to leap into every shot.....

Too late.

greg, Gabo Barreto and 2 more people faved this

    who left that photographer there?

This is extraordinarily cool and beautiful and all...but what the hell IS that?

(Yes, I know I could probably google it, but then I'd know the answer and I'm a wee bit afraid I'd be disappointed in it, because reality can do that to you.)

Ron Layters at least he took his rucksack off.

Holden Richards it was a great day for dramatic skies.

greg It's beautiful and photogenic. And there's no door. I can't risk disappointing you by telling you anything else.

Greg pointed this photo out to me and I was immediately fascinated by White Nancy (and not afraid to look up information about it), so I decided to put it on the Front Page of Utata today. Cheers!

    Oh. Drama indeed.

There's a similarly doorless structure that I used to play around as a child called the Pepperpot. It's not nearly as white and photogenic as Nancy, but it does sit on a hill called Castlebarrow overlooking a village called Silverdale. I grew up in Middle-earth.

Can I just say again that I still love this photo beyond all reason. And I'm content to continue enjoying it in bovine ignorance (me and the cow...and how great is it that there's a cow standing there? What a wonderfully serendipitous cow.).

And am I the only person who has difficulty imagining Sam as an elf? Or a hobbit.

Wonderful. Enjoyed on Utata Front Page. Moo.

If I don't remember to charge up my beard trimmer then I'll soon be heading into Gandalf territory.

I feel like I've turned up late to my own party, only to find out I've missed the elves and hobits.

The front page made my day. Ron is feeling even more embarrassed about leaping in there with the cattle. Or maybe not.
