September 4 (new wardrobe)
I'm finally sorting through some photos from the week now ending. Anyone who knows me well knows I don't cotton to uncomfortable footwear. One of the indicators of impending doom at my former job at the Very Large Multinational Corporation is the "Standards of Professional Dress" document that was distributed to each employee at the beginning of their employment. It featured full-color photos of stylish men and women wearing professional tailored clothing. Type under each photo described where the employee could purchase the clothing in question, and how much it might run them. This company was pretty obsessive about all their employees wearing ultra-professional shoes at all times. As a matter of fact, I was pulled aside early in my career there for scornfully wearing open-toed shoes.
I took this photo of my rough needing-a-pedicure toes on my lunch break on my first day at my new part-time job. I couldn't be happier about the new dress code. The people there have already gotten on to me for dressing too nicely there, which just makes me giggle.
