Father Figure Project: The World in Her Hands

Guy Miller enjoying a rare quiet moment at home with his daughter and youngest child Lanae. Bronx, NY.

I can't believe it's been almost two years when I first met the Millers in front of Harlem Hospital. Lanae wasn't born yet. Parents Guy and Lanik had their hands full with then-newborn Guy Jr. Guy Jr. is now two and asserting is independence. The oldest, Nijeyah is now 9, the second Nijel, 5. Both are now exhibiting a certain distance and shyness that wasn't there when they were younger. The ask more questions, to which I don't have many answers. Why am not always there. Where is Toronto? Why do I keep missing their birthdays. Especially Nijeyah now hates to be photographed, she is very self-conscious.

There are images that I hadn't thought of much back when I shot them. They now have some added significance and meaning...
