Sunrise at Haleakala
My version of the famous Haleakala sunrise. Completely cloudless at 10,000 feet, I had an unobstructed view of the entire 7.5-mile crater, and a front row seat to a beautiful display of nature's grandeur. I did have to get up at 3:45 AM to make it to the summit by 5:30, and the 120mph wind gusts literally almost blew me off the mountain, and nearly froze me combined with the 34F temperature, but it was worth it. :) This is a triple exposure, taken at about 5:45 AM, minutes before the sun itself began to peek over the horizon. It is pretty true-to-life; this is very close to how it actually looked.
