Fulkerson Mansion

I found this after escaping Alton with the big storm rolling through and thought I wouldn't see any daylight again, then the sun broke out with a little mist of rain. So I got to have a little time and photograph this great place. This was a place that you pass up and apply the brakes quickly and back up!

This Italianate style mansion was built in 1866 by William H. Fulkerson who built it after he got home from the Civil War and named it Hazel Dell. William was a Lt. Colonel in the Confederate Army in the 63rd Tennesse regiment. The grounds are well maintained and they have Victorian Festivals in September with many activities. Jersey County, Illinois.
