Stark Plantation

I must start by apologizing for potentially spoiling a good photograph. This is the Lost Plantation House that James and I discovered this spring. This time I secured permission!! My wife and I got to explore the grounds inside and out. So you will see some snow pictures of this place this winter. 2 hour drive though. It was a plantation house with slaves and a stone building in the back was supposed to be their quarters. Also I heard there was chain attachments to the cellar walls below. I didn't see any yet. Very dark. Could be a tale. This is part of what is known in Missouri as Little Dixie because here the pre-Civil War culture closely paralelled that of the Upper South of Kentucky, Virginia, and Tennessee. Tobacco and cotton were grown here which seems a world away here in northern Missouri. If you remember last time that there was cattle inside and sure enough there was "evidence" everywhere inside!! Sometimes a foot deep! Even smeared all over the walls 6 feet high and even splatter to the ceiling! Thought you would enjoy hearing that.
