Ryssby causeway

What can I say? Eddie and I in one vehicle and his buddies in the other flagged on bad skies over at Broley and decided on bad skies at Ryssby Church and I just tagged and dragged myself along but when they hied over to the church, I got out and looked for shade over here at the "Causeway" that flows past Ryssby. While I thought that jumping in would be the paws that refreshes, I moved over to the fence because it seems like my usual spot of preference. The grasses were so inviting, I thought I'd have another look with my camera in hand. I didn't care what the others are up to as long as I could stand in the shade and perhaps craft a picture. A bit like Eddie is futilely trying to do at the church. I better go see what they are up to if I can get through the traffic on the highway..

In any case here is a ditch that is watering the meadows and farm lands. Snow melt is a gift from the gods to Colorado. Ryssby across the road is a favorite haunt of Eddie. The diversion eventually feeds from the St.Vrain River, I expect, that drains the valleys south of the peaks, Mount Meeker & Long's Peak. I don't know how long I could lay in this today but it is probably chilly enough for me today. In fact the north St.Vrain flows from Wild Basin to the left of Mount Meeker, in the Park. That is a dynamite refuge for Longmonters, being less popular to touristas than the Estes area.

We just had a couple of soaking rains and spring has come around just in time in July to save some of the Weld County corn! I wonder if they foolishly use that to produce alcohol when other crops may be 10 times more efficient or just squeeze it for us on a day like today. Because of La Nina, we apparently never got a proper spring. The scene is not quite what it seems. We are surviving an abnormally toasty stretch that is drying our meager snow pack. And surviving, mostly, the testosterone rush in Aurora, Colorado. Sheesh, if it gets any warmer, I will have to walk in; with my crap shoes on. I could lie down in the shade of the tree and dangle my feet in the water. It looks so good, I decided to leave some gamut on the water so it looks really wet.
