    No "white on white" bonus for me! I only have black plates!

      I really like the contrasting black & white here, and that every little flake is "it's own", in that big hill of salt. I'd love to see it shot from above, just for the fun of it... (but I have a thing with birds view photos these days!)

      Not over or under exposing white on black can be almost as tricky as white on white (for me at least :) I like how the salt grains look like little rough gemstones, almost mysterious as to what they are.

      I like the white on black concept. The contrast is very striking.

      I wish the focus was a bit clearer though. When viewed large, it's hard to tell where exactly the focus was. I'm not sure if the coolpix has a macro mode, but that might have helped.

      The Coolpix was in macro mode. I'm still working out it's quirks. Still the best macro I have at the moment. I tried reversing a 50mm on my D70 and it wasn't quite what I was wanting.
