Vintage Super Soaker Squirt Gun,

Cut Away and Replica Prototype

Lonnie Johnson used everyday materials to build his first prototype for what was to become the famous toy. His invention continues to evolve over time.

Thin Film Battery

Up until now, Lonnie is best known for his invention of the Super Soaker squirt gun. However, his toy profits have been funding research in advanced battery technology, specifically thin-film lithium-ion conductive membranes like this one. The total thickness of the battery is only .31mm. In the future, cell phones and laptops using these thin film batteries will be capable of running up to four times longer than on other lithium-ion batteries having the same physical size.
