There's a giant block of land that's almost entirely bare, but looking at Google Maps, it was mostly like this before the earthquake. The brick building in the background is National Gallery, a fancy art gallery and boutique. Its main entrance on Madras Street is in the Red Zone, so entering it requires traipsing across this vast, barren wasteland. And in the middle of it were these two broken power poles and a crazy crushed car. What were they doing there? Was this an attempt to recreate some dystopian Duran Duran music video? Where are you, Simon Le Bon, when we need you the most?
