In 'the zone'
An old shot, this, pulled from the archives to enter in an Audi (Facebook) photo contest related to owner's cars and the theme "road trip". I figured since I'd dusted it off for that purpose, might as well post to my stream too. :)
I had to chuckle as I went to process this one, since it was taken shortly after I bought my first DSLR and well before I started shooting RAW. All I had to work with was a jpeg; thank goodness ACR allows WB and exposure adjustments for jpegs before processing in CS4.
No trickery here. It was taken with a Canon 300D and EF-S 17-85 IS, tripod mounted in the back seat, using a remote shutter release in self timer mode. I would trigger the shutter then get both hands on the wheel. I took over 200 of these during the course of a week, refining process along the way (shirt color, hand placement, instrument lighting level, rear view mirror aim, etc). All camera settings, including focal plane (MF mode) and framing/composition were done (and tweaked) before heading out each morning. I've posted others from that series before, most with black skies (before sunrise), but really like the light in this one.
