The Carousel of Lost Children

    Newer Older

Somewhere is Brussels, I forget where, near the Christmas Market was a small Estonian market, selling crafts and food, and more importantly vin chaud.

It also had the best carousel I've ever seen, where the kids rode in strange skeletal fish, giant stag beetles, men with jet packs, winged horses, and as you can see, chameleon travel modules and sea horses.

It reminded me of the crazy sets and design in the film The City of Lost Children, which if you haven't seen, go out and find now.

I don't have the EXIF on me, but this is a panned shot at I think about 1/5s. Panning on something that is going round in a circle is surprisingly hard, but I'm quite pleased with the result!

Also see the detail here, for less context and hence increased weirdness.

Reminds me a bit of something Willy Wonka (the Gene Wilder version) would have in his backyard...great shot!! :-)

This is bloody brilliant. That child in the bubble makes the shot.

Ah, a child disorientator. You caught the movement and the surreal scene really well. Did you have a go?

Well done, my boys love carousels and I've tried and tried to get a good photo of a still face with a moving carousel. without a result as satisfying as this.
