Fiery Autumn Sunset over the Evolution Range (Eastern Sierra Nevada)

****BEST VIEWED LARGE/ON BLACK**** (just click on the photo)

And this is why John Muir called it the "range of light." Once in a great, great while, everything comes together for a shot--this was one of those rare evenings. Golden aspens? Check. Sierra granite crags with snowfields? Check. Fiery sunset sky? Check. I've wanted a shot like this for a long time.

This is near the road to Lake Sabrina, not too far past Aspendell. Incredibly, my SO and I were the only ones in this area shooting this scene. You can see one of his shots (from a slightly different perspective) here.
