How can you tell it's spring in North County San Diego, where the weather's always perfect? Look to the hills of Carlsbad for a sign. A really obvious psychedelic-colored sign.
The Carlsbad Flower Fields are waves of multicolored ranunculus bulbs that bloom for about two months each year. Since it's March, the fields are open for the season and ready for the 200,000 visitors expected to show up for this annual spring fling that's become a tradition.
This year, I took Aurora and Louis for their first visit. Grandma came also, and we had a great time, even under cloudy skies. Photographers take note - if you're in the area, this is a must see. www.theflowerfields.com/
