BHP's Y-148 after re-paint at Ballarat Workshops-1.

This is BHP's shunting loco Y-148 after it was re-painted into the new corporate colours of the business.

The loco was sold to BHP STEEL when it was no longer required by V/Line.

I was given the task of re-painting the loco whilst I was employed as a Technical Clerk in the Workshops Division of V/Line.

I had to make a paint diagram for the loco as well as contacting a paint prepresentative from Dulux Paints so I could obtain the correct colours.

In the photo above, some of the painters from the workshops add the finishing touches to the loco in the yard outside.

This loco is still used today to shunt the sidings at the BHP Long Island steel plant at Hastings, south-east of Melbourne.

This black and white picture was taken in the early 1990's by the staff at Ballarat Workshops.
