Nvidia's closed-source Linux drivers

    Got a brand-new Macbook Pro 2.2ghz, but i have to use the VESA drivers in X since the close-source Nvidia drivers (v100.14.09) do this. The open source NV driver doesn't support the Nvidia 8600m chipset yet, so i'm stuck using a very sluggish X... :(

      Looks like what happened to me back in the olden days when I tried to initialize 256 color vga graphics w/o the 256 color driver -- instead, 16-color palette kept cycling...
