My Cousin Vinny - Filming Location
The Sac-O-Suds Convenience Store, located along Georgia State Road 16, at the Ocmulgee River.
When we first researched the filming locations for My Cousin Vinny, it was a December night in 2008. We had decided (as we regularly do), that it was a great movie to get some laughs, but of course, our curiosity was piqued and instead of watching the movie like normal people, we ended up pausing it, and breaking out the laptops to start researching filming locations. At the time, there wasn't alot of info out there, but we had satellite images, maps, and our newest tool that was just launched and was in its infancy" Google Street View.
At the time, the Sac-O-Suds was still open, but it was shortly thereafter (in 2009) that the store closed, was foreclosed, and sat empty and falling into disrepair.
I was very excited to do the locations, but life didn't work out that way. In the fall 2009, we purchased a travel trailer and got hooked on camping, and road trips took a back seat to camping trips. Another time, we planned on doing this trip, and rain was looking to douse the south for days, so as we left town, we made a right turn and went west and took a trip on 66 instead.
Fast forward to 2014 and the Sac-O-Suds is now reopen and catering to locals and tourists alike. They have Sac-O-Suds tuna fish available (payment is optional if you dare...).
Go...just go!! Enjoy!
