Lake Mead Marina Move

    Newer Older

Due to the draught in recent years, the water level of Lake Mead has dropped to a record low. For this reason, Lake Mead Marina had to be relocated. The marina has been a popular launch place since the 1940's. With just a handfull of civilian 'tug' boats, the marina was moved in it's entirety. It was moved to Hemenway Harbor on the south side of the relocated Las Vegas Bay Marina.

That's sad news. But this is a cool picture! All the vapor trails remind me of the old Atari game "Missile Command."

Really interesting photos of floating a marina, "lock, stock and barrel". I'm most surprised by the marina's boats remaining tethered during the move.
