Wow! Did they ever sell this stuff in cardboard milk-carton type cartons? I seem to remember having that in the early 70s.

This is soda, so I don't believe so. Egg nog was sold in cardboard containers during Halloween (and still is in some locations).

The stuff I'm thinking of was called Witches' Brew, but I remember it being more of a fruit punch or apple cider sort of thing. I'll have to see what I can find about it.

I can imagine why this was short-lived. This soda sounds like something I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy!

This sounds great! I love licorice. I'd probably 'fix' it up with some vodka or something like that....

Witches' Brew, which I think was apple cider flavored, was sold by Lawson's in the 1970's, around Halloween time. Lawson's also sold "Paddy's Punch", a green lime-flavored drink, around St. Patrick's Day. Lawson's, which was in Ohio and surrounding states, later became Dairy Mart, and is now Circle K.

The "Witches' Brew" sold at Lawson's stores in the early 1970's came in paper cartons. I recall the Lawson's version tasting like apple cider with cherry flavor added.
