Grizzly Catching Salmon

    Newer Older

My parents had their 45th wedding anniversary this summer, and to celebrate they invited the whole family on a trip to Alaska. We flew into Fairbanks, took the train to Denali, then headed down to Anchorage and made day trips from there.

On Saturday I took a seaplane to Katmai National Park - one of the most incredible wildlife areas I've ever visited. A mile hike from the Brooks Lodge took me to a small waterfall where grizzly bears fish for salmon, and even though it was past peak season there were at least 10 grizzlies taking out one fish after another.

I spent hours taking photos, burned through more than 12GB, and wish I could have stayed there for weeks...
