Michael Clarke Duncan at age 54 - Rest in Peace

03 Sept 2012, LA, Cal.: Michael Clarke Duncan, the enormous and powerful actor who broke through playing the character of the death row inmate John Coffey in The Green Mile, has passed away this morning.

TGM was his first Oscar nominated role and turned Duncan into a major acting commodity, known not only for his incredible physique, but also for his gentle and substance-free life and demeanor, and for his quick humor, despite being raised in Southside Chicago by a single mom.

He had suffered a massive heart attack this July and was unable to leave the hospital. Michael passed quietly this morning in his hospital bed after his fiance stepped out of the room for a bit.
