Burnout | by Riebart

One of the better burnouts we had over the day. This guy was up a few times and repeatedly smoked out the starting box.

For the record, that light stand is 60 feet from the starting line.

For those are aren't aware, drivers are able to make a dedicated burnout run in order to ensure that their tires are free of any contaminants that may impair traction. This can include dirt, gravel, rocks, oil or anything else. Burning out the tires serves to remove these, as well as ensure that the tires are hot for maximum traction.

After this burnout, they reverse back to the starting line for the race proper.
