Patriarch Grove Milky Way

    Newer Older

From my night at the Patriarch Grove in the White Mountains. This is without light-painting (obviously). I like the night-time feel of this shot. The tree still has some texture and detail, but not too much

I love the light and clouds on the horizon. Give the image another dimension, in my mind

Two meteors snuck into the shot, which is a nice bonus

First off, I take it this tree no longer stands and is just a stump? I like this non-light painted version more. I like how you can see more of the surroundings: ground, other trees, mountain background, and this shot has more of a night feel to it. Looking excellent!

Can't "flatter" me on this shot, Willie!! Tree is gone now

      :-)

Of course, I flattered Steven Christenson, who in turn flattered someone else....

A guy in my camera club also took this shot, so this tree has seen a lot of night photogs...

Wow, the tree slanted almost in parallel with the Milky Way. Nice capture.

Agree with tourtrophy -- awesome that the milky way paralleled the tree! Also prefer this version without the light painting -- it just looks way more natural and also shows us more of the surroundings. Love that glow in the background too!

Wow, Rick this is just awesome. And two meteors to top off an already fantastic shot. Definitely one of those shots you look at and wish you took
