Mobius Arch Star Trail
"I See You!" - Mobius Arch Star Trail
Just got back from a nice trip to the Eastern Sierras with a couple of buds where we hit Mono Lake, Bristlecone Pines, and Alabama Hills (where this shot was taken)
While at the top of the White Mountains in the Patriarch Grove of Bristlecone Pines at 10pm, someone yells out my name. Turns out it was Steven Christenson and Eric Harness who were up there with the other Star Circle Academy instructors for a workshop the following night. Small world when you hang out late at night in remote spots....
For this shot, I had to lay down with the scorpions to get the North Star within the arch. Makes it look like an eye with the arch as the eyelid
The stack is comprise of 43 images each 5 minutes long (3.6 hours). The stack is then combined with an exposure I took of the arch while light-painting. I did light painting both at midnight and when I woke up closer to dawn. I liked the blue in the sky of the later shot and used that. I reserve the right to change my mind later. As always, comments are welcome!
