The beauty of starry night at Lake Tekapo
Lake tekapo is famous of it's spectacular night sky in the world and I am so glad that I have been given the chance to visit this place. The most fortunate thing is that it was a pretty fine day when I visited this town. So I can really see how starry is the night sky of Lake Tekapo. And I know this Church of the good shepherd is the landmark for lake tekapo too. So I have decided to use it as my foreground to really bring out the beauty of night sky at Lake Tekapo. Another fortunate thing that night is that I have met another photographer setting up his tripod to shoot the night sky at the church as well. He is a professional photographer from Australia. He actually setup his tripod at the other end of the church becoz his main interest is to capture the full milky way. While my interest is to bring out the beauty of night sky at Lake Tekapo. And the lucky part of my photo is that I am able to get the northern part of the milky way heading down to the church from the left. However, I have learnt something from him about milky way like where it will formed and how it will set together with the moon. Also one disadvantages to shoot the night sky at this church is its light pollution. There are quite a lot of cars coming in at night to look at the night sky and the church. So their headlights were actually shined on the church and caused my long exposed imaged to have over exposed. So, it needs quite a lot of patience to take this photo. I have been waiting there in the cold with my shorts for about 3 hrs until i get this shot and go back to hostel. All in all, it was a great experience to have captured this photo. And thanks to Alex, the photographer from Aus to give me his comments and informations about the milky way. I know milky way is an interesting subject for night photography and I will definitely look into that in the near future.
