One Tired Pup
Another picture of Ellie on her second day with us back in 2009. We kept her isolated to my wife's office in the basement for the first couple of weeks, and my wife slept down there to keep her company at night. When my wife woke up the first morning, during those first few seconds before she was fully awake, she thought I smelled bad enough that she was going to ask me to start showering before coming to bed. Then she remembered that she had slept in the basement and I was in the bedroom with the cats. Now fully awake, she realized that during the night Ellie had climbed into bed and curled up with her.
These days Ellie sleeps on the dog bed in our bedroom until my wife gets up (she's an early riser), then Ellie climbs in beside me so that when I wake, she's always there to greet me. On this day, though, she was taking a quick nap on a makeshift dog bed made of sheets and pillows and a stuffed alligator.
