In front of City Hall in Downtown Lawrence is the first example of red arrows that I had seen in Kansas. They were installed in 2001 for traffic traveling along US 40/US 59 through town. The red arrow has become more common in Kansas; however, this remains the only use of the red arrow for protected-only left turns in Lawrence; all other protected-only left turn signal heads still use the circular red indication.
