posing betwin sisters
Friends for over 12 years, I always knew that Elleatrice had an identical twin.
However, I was not prepared for the shock and fascination of meeting her twin sister for the first time.
It isn't so much the fact that they look alike. Aside from Elise's short hairstyle, there are other minor differences in their appearance. But what I found most uncanny are their mannerisms, their voice, their laugh, and the similar way they react to me and the world around them.
Both teach dance in high schools, Elleatrice at the Martin Luther King High School of Arts and Technology in my neighborhood, and Elise in a high school in the mid-west. Both are competitive ballroom dancers. Every year they attend a dance workshop at Alvin Ailey, and that's why Elise was visiting New York.
Here we are on table 10 at Ouest, relaxing after a fantastic dinner. We had lots of laughs, and before we left, we filled out the comment card. Since I work there, we didn't make serious comments, jokingly complained about everything from the temperature of the coffee to the waiters' uniforms. As we finished the card, I paused for a second, before signing it........
"Wait!" Elleatrice said, " Sign it 'Tony Orlando and Dawn'!"
