Purple Haze

Three hours sleep, waking up in the small hours of the morning and travelling 45 minutes to the beautiful Hitchin Lavender fields we attempted to capture a beautiful morning's sunrise.

Many thanks to Nick from Hitchin Lavender who let us arrange this, Han and I arrived at 4:50am to setup the cameras. Regular checks using the Met Office and Photographs Ephemeris iPhone apps meant that we should of been in for perfect conditions. An overnight increase of humidity to 97% meant we woke up plenty of mist and not a lot of sun! A failed attempt at capturing the sunrise over this beautiful lavender field, however it still remains a striking image.

Will have to deprive my other half of some sleep again in the near future and give it another shot! :-)

Great image Richard. I enjoyed your blog post on this too. Funny, I pass through Hitchin everyday on my way to work and never knew there was a lavender farm here! I'll have to make a trip out here at some point ;) Hope you manage to get your sunrise shot.
