York Cold War Bunker 2019-06-02
No. 20 Group ROC Headquarters was built in 1961 and was part of a nationwide network of monitoring stations as a result of the Cold War. The bunker was maintained in a high state of readiness until stand-down in 1991. It wasn't a shelter to ride out the end of the world; it was for early warning and monitoring, and could accommodate a staff of 60 and be self-sufficient for only 30 days.
