PSTOL1, phosphorus uptake research team members - CHR_0252
PSTOL1, phosphorus uptake research team members from right to left are: Sigrid Heuer, Cheryl Dalid, Rico Gamuyao, Matthias Wissuwa and Joong Hyoun Chin.
The PSTOL1 gene – short for Phosphorus Starvation Tolerance – helps rice grow bigger and better root systems that help them access more of the essential plant nutrient phosphorus that is lacking in many rice growing areas. When grown in phosphorus deficient soils PSTOL1 rice can out-yield its non-PSTOL1 counterpart by 20%.
