Jenolan Blues

Just a stroll from the Jenolan caves is a small but exquisite lake, home to shy platypus.

As water seeps through the limestone caves, it carries out minerals which, in sunlight, render the lake an impossibly vivid blue.

The lake was constructed in the early 20th century to enable them to produce hydroelectricity. This allowed the installation of electric lights in the caves.
