Juvenile Sandhill Crane

I didn't realize what I was photographing until I looked in the camera display.

This juvie (at left) is at least 10 months old. Cranes will fly north of here to mate, lay their eggs, hatch, raise, and fly back to the southern part of the US (generally speaking), usually in the Fall. SO. I surmise it's at least 10 mos. old. Could be older. If I remember correctly, the red skin (it is skin, not feathers) completes forming at around three years old. Feel free to correct me. :)

He/she is quite pretty for a yute. ;)
